The following is a list of the main improvements in version 1.6 of VssConnect

• Improved SourceSafe integration when using SourceSafe 2005. Checkout comments are now supported and the checkout location reported to other SourceSafe users now reflects the actual checkout location on the client's local machine.
• User impersonation. VssConnect can now be configured such that all client requests are made using the currently connected user's account identity. This allows the VssConnect server to reliably run under a restricted permissions account. This feature is only available when using SourceSafe 2005 on the VssConnect server machine.
• Disable project deployment command. This command can now be disabled from the VssConnect server admin.
• File properties dialog. The user can now view an expanded list of properties for a source control file, including a list of all checkouts.
• Default 'override working folders' setting. The user may now set the default state of the 'override working folders' command option.
• Deleting shared files. When deleting a file, the user can elect to delete the file from all projects that contain the file in the case of a 'shared' file.
• Project history and cloaking. The user can now elect to exclude cloaked projects from the project history.
• Add folder and wild cards. The Add Folder command now allows the user to specify files to include/exclude using wild cards.
• Checkout search and writable files. The checkout search command can now be instructed to include files that are writable locally but not checked out.
• Improved Get dialog. The Get Project dialog has been simplified my moving seldom used options to separate pages.
• Improved Project Clean command. The Clean command now included an option to remove local folders that do not have a corresponding source control project path.
• Viewing deleted files. Users can now view the content of files that are deleted from a project.
• Cut, copy and paste. Users can now copy, share and move files using the cut, copy and paste metaphor.
• Username lists. VssConnect now supplies a list of usernames for project and file histories.
• UI command line parameters. The VssConnect can now be started using command line parameters to specify connection properties.
• Branch project command. A new command has been added that allows all files in a project to be branched (including files in sub-projects).
