VssConnect 1.6

VssConnect may be downloaded for free, allowing customers to evaluate it for 45 days. The default trial license will allow up to two clients to connect. Email us if you would like to try VssConnect with more users. The downloads on this page are full versions of the software.

System Requirements

The VssConnect server can be installed on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server and Vista. The client may be installed on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server and Vista.

The VssConnect server and client both require the .NET runtime, V1.1 or higher. On installation, VssConnect checks for the presence of .NET and offers to download it if it is not installed. Alternatively, you may download it from here.

The VssConnect server requires that Visual SourceSafe 6 or 2005 be installed. We recommend Visual SourceSafe 2005. If you are using Visual SourceSafe 6, we recommend that you install Visual Studio 6, SP6 on the VssConnect server machine in order to upgrade Visual SourceSafe 6 to build 31222. SP6 can be obtained from here.

Upgrade Information

Users may upgrade to VssConnect 1.6 from any previous version of VssConnect. When upgrading the VssConnect server from version 1.4 or 1.5, simply install VssConnect Server 1.6 without uninstalling the previous version. This will allow the setup program to migrate your server configuration automatically.

The VssConnect 1.6 server supports version 1.5 clients but 1.6 clients are not supported by the 1.5 server.
